Winam Gulf, gulf of the northeastern corner of Lake Victoria, southwestern Kenya, East Africa. It is a shallow inlet, 35 miles (56 km) long and 15 miles wide, and is connected to the main lake by a channel 3 miles wide. The port of Kisumu stands on its northeastern shore.
